Unique view of the top of a Lockheed L 1011 Tri Star jetliner in flight, seen f rom the wide-angle lens of a fully-automatic Olympus OM-2 camera (equipped with 250-exposure backs) mounted atop the vertical stabilizer of the plane. All ph otographs indicate the curvature of the earth. Variations among the photographs are due t o differing light conditions and terrains (blurred by panning) below. The camer a releases were hard-wired to a control box in the cabin, where an assistant tr iggered the cameras on voice command from photographer Bruce Dale, who was riding in the co ckpit. Numbers 50, 51, 52 and 60 show a portion of the ruggedly-mountainous co astline and Pacific Ocean.
