Aspen trees (Populus tremuloides) wear the vivid green of new growth in Black H ills National Forest. More than a million acres in size, the forest abounds in deer, elk, pronghorn, mountain goats, and bighorn sheep. Forests blanket the B lack Hills, the darkish cast of evergreens giving the region its name.
