At the 1982 Royal National Eisteddfod, an annual festival of Welsh arts, young girls dance before the robed Gorsedd of Bards in a ceremony invented to conjure ancient druidic ritual. Robe colors indicate position with the Gorsedd: green for the novice order, blue for the more skilled and white for the exalted Bards of the Druidic Order-those who have made important contributions to Welsh literature, music, art, or scholarship.
